TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Deposit Invoice, Drawing Approval and Samples

A 50% deposit is required and all drawings are to be ‘signed–off’ before work on can begin.

Any changes made to the quoted and agreed specification will be invoiced separately and additional production time may be required.

All furniture is made according to the signed–off drawings.

Please note, by signing off a drawing you are accepting the specification shown, therefore particular attention should be paid at this stage.

All furniture is made individually by hand using natural materials, and as a result, variations may occur. Samples may be supplied upon request once an order is confirmed

Fabric

If fabric is required, when supplying this fabric to DAVIDSON it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the fabric is compliant with British Standard BS 5852 of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations Act 1988. This can be achieved by the fabric having been fire rated by an external company (we would be happy to make a recommendation) or by the application of an inter–liner by DAVIDSON at the time of upholstery. Should the inter–liner option be required, then an extra charge will be included on the balance invoice.

Glass Tops

If ordering furniture with a glass top (to be supplied) it is important to be aware that the glass top should not be placed on the item until a period of 4 weeks has passed. This is to ensure that the chemical curing process in the lacquer has had the required amount of time to complete.

Whilst the item and its finish are perfectly safe to use from the date of delivery there are still subtle processes at work within the lacquer which make it stronger over time. If glass is placed on top of it too early then it may cause the lacquer to sweat. This in turn ends up damaging the finish resulting in the item being stripped and re–lacquered at the client’s expense.

Davidson are happy to supply glass tops with furniture but we stress that it is important to adhere to the above advice to avoid any issues.

This caution only applies to glass that is being fully supported. An inset piece of glass will not have the same issues.

All glass supplied by Davidson is toughened to British Standards regardless of its application. Davidson will not undertake to supply non–toughened glass in any of its projects as we feel it is important to provide the safest product at all times. It is possible to keep the Kitemark on the glass if requested, however as procedure we always remove it.

Balance Invoice and Delivery

All extras must be quoted for and accepted. These extras will be invoiced with the balance invoice or separately should the balance invoice have already been issued.

Delivery times will vary according to each individual item but are typically between 10 – 14 weeks

A delivery date cannot be confirmed until receipt of the balance payment, funds of which must be cleared seven days before delivery can be confirmed.

Goods remain the property of DAVIDSON until full payment is received.

Delivery dates will be scheduled in at the earliest possible slot.

Delivery and installation is payable in addition to the quoted price and will be included on the balance invoice.

Installation does not include mirrors or palm tables; this should be carried out by a skilled person. An illustrated installation guide will be supplied.

The cost of delivery and installation will depend on the location and accessibility. Please see Delivery and Installation section for further detail.

A representative for the client must be present to oversee delivery and installation of furniture and sign appropriate documentation.

Once goods have been delivered and signed for DAVIDSON cannot be held responsible for any damage to the goods thereafter.

Dedicated deliveries are not feasible unless charged accordingly.

Once an order has been completed to the agreed delivery date, DAVIDSON is not in a position to store furniture if the client is not ready to accept furniture.

DAVIDSON does not have storage facilities. If it is not possible to deliver the furniture to site within the agreed lead time it will need to be taken to secure humidity controlled storage and suitably wrapped for safe keeping. The cost of this will be borne by the client and not by DAVIDSON.

VAT

VAT is payable on all orders in the UK. No VAT will be charged on goods shipped directly to countries outside of the EC on the provision that DAVIDSON receives export documentation from the shipping company within three months from the date of the balance invoice.

VAT is payable on sales to other EU countries unless the buyer is VAT registered. For this to be included on invoices, it is imperative that the VAT registration number is provided.

Delivery and Installation

DAVIDSON uses a professional delivery company that specialises in white glove deliveries. DAVIDSON furniture is of top quality and it is imperative to ensure that it is delivered with the utmost care and attention.

Once delivery and installation has been completed and furniture has been signed for to confirm that it has been received in good condition, any damage to furniture will no longer be liable to DAVIDSON.

Should the client decide to use an alternative delivery company, whilst this is not recommended, please inform DAVIDSON directly and as soon as possible. Please note that DAVIDSON cannot accept any responsibility for damage to furniture once it is signed for and collected from the DAVIDSON workshop.

Installation of furniture is included in the delivery cost. This means that DAVIDSON will ensure that the furniture is placed into position at the property and fully assembled. If access to the property is difficult, however, the time it takes to install the furniture may be considerably lengthened. If extra charges are incurred the client will be billed for this directly by the DAVIDSON delivery company. It is imperative DAVIDSON is informed if there are any access concerns with the property.

If there are any concerns about the building access, a site visit by the delivery company would be advisable in order to avoid incurring any extra costs. Site visits inside London can generally be arranged within a matter of days and will be free of charge; any site visits outside London may take longer to schedule and would be subject to a small charge based on distance from the delivery company’s facility.

Shipping

All items of furniture can be shipped globally, however please note DAVIDSON does not get involved with shipping or assist with completing shipping documentation. This requires specialist knowledge of the destination in question. It is recommended that clients use a reputable shipping company that will complete this documentation on their behalf. Once shipped, DAVIDSON requires copies of all shipping documentation. This will be absolutely necessary if you are exempt from VAT.

We have no storage or viewing area at our works, therefore all export orders on completion are transferred to our London facility. This cost will be included on your balance invoice.

DAVIDSON requires a representative of the client to be in attendance to sign a note of satisfaction, confirming that the furniture has been received in good condition at the point of collection. Alternatively, DAVIDSON can arrange to deliver furniture, at a cost, to the client’s appointed shippers. At the point of handover, again a representative of the client is required to be in attendance to sign off the furniture as being received in good condition. No responsibility will be accepted by DAVIDSON for any damage thereafter once a signature has been given.

Choosing the correct shipper is of utmost importance. If the client is in any doubt about shipping DAVIDSON must be contacted.
