It’s been an exciting – and busy – start to 2019 for everyone on the DAVIDSON team.
First of all, we’d like to welcome you to our new-look website and journal. Over the past few months we’ve been working behind the scenes to evolve the look and feel of the site, adding new subtle touches to our branding and building on the successful heritage of our company.
A lot of time and love goes into creating each and every one of our products and we wanted to be able to share their stories with our clients. That’s why every product page now features more detail on the craftsmanship, materials and finishes that we use. Those materials and finishes are also echoed in the introduction of some contemporary, abstract textures throughout the website’s design. Our aim in everything we do is to create a strong aesthetic without detracting from the luxury, minimal feel that our clients tell us that they love.

Our new site also celebrates our love of the bespoke, with more detail on the ways in which we can tailor any piece to your own requirements. No two DAVIDSON pieces are ever quite the same – whether through choice of finish for a table or upholstery fabric for a chair. Each piece is expertly handcrafted to the exact specifications of the client who will eventually own it and throughout these pages you’ll find guidance on how we can help you with that.
For clients wanting to get a feel for how our work can be incorporated into a complete room, we’ve also created a new Lookbook section, where we’ll share beautiful photography of our pieces in situ. The galleries are highly shareable across social media and we hope this will provide additional inspiration when choosing to work with DAVIDSON.
We’re also really proud to be a family-run British business so we’ll be sharing more of the things we personally love. For example, we’ve created a new ‘Curated by Claudia’ section, in which Claudia will be sharing her favourite pieces.
One of our biggest new features, though, is the section you’re in now: our magazine. In the coming months you can expect to see more behind-the-scenes long-form features, product spotlights, technique guides, plus hints and tips on choosing the perfect piece for you. For a flavour of what’s to come, take a look at our short guide to lacquering, why we love chess tables and the story behind our beautiful Howes Table. We’ll also be championing British design and craftsmanship and sharing our experiences of working closely alongside interior designers and makers.
As well as our new website, we’re also thrilled to be included in the 2019 edition of Country and Town House’s luxury industry bible Great British Brands. Published by Julia Carrick OBE and edited by Lucia van der Post, one of the best-known names in luxury, Great British Brands celebrates 150 British luxury brands and we’re thrilled to be sitting alongside the likes of Alexander McQueen, Berry Bros & Rudd, Hay Festival, Mulberry and Sipsmith.
“Being recognised in this way means a lot to us,” says managing director Alexandra Davidson. “Designing and buying British has always been at the heart of everything we do, ever since we launched the business more than 30 years ago. Our commitment to British craftsmanship and exceptional quality has helped earn us international acclaim and it’s why clients from all over the world keep coming back. The specialist gilders, metalworkers and carvers we work with are all experts in their respective fields, and ensure we maintain our exceptional standards, use British heritage techniques and tools to create luxury pieces that stand the test of time.”
In September, Davidson’s Rosebery dining table won Best Table at the International Design & Architecture Awards
We also want to keep moving forward, making sure our furniture is as functional as it is beautiful. And we’re excited to soon be launching DAVIDSON Fitted, our new collection of high-end fitted designs featuring everything from wardrobes and bookcases to display cabinets and shelving. Our fitted range still reflects our signature style and can be tailored to fit your individual requirements. We’ll be sharing the story behind this new collection after the launch, so keep an eye on the journal for more.
Finally, we’re also collaborating with bespoke interior designers Broosk Saib and Anna Standish on some brand new pieces and, in 2020, we’ll be launching another collection with Taylor Howes, following the success of our Howes Table.
In the meantime, we’ll be on show at numerous events throughout 2019, so if you can pop along to any of the shows below, do stop by and say hello:
